NYC Tarte Cosmetics Meet Up with EssieButton & Amelia Liana

Today (Nov 6 2014), Tarte Cosmetics hosted a meet and greet with the amazing Essie and Amelia.
When I found out they were coming to New York to have a meet up, I knew I was going to have to drop everything I was doing to go see them even if I had someone to go with or not and it was the best decision I ever made.
As Essie said in one of her recent Vlogs, sometimes you just have to go places on your own and experience things on your own. You'll never know unless you try.

This was my first time going to a Youtube beauty guru meet up. I've actually never been to any beauty related events because I've been scared to go alone and I never knew what to expect. Everyone at Tarte was really lovely and super nice. They made us feel comfortable and made conversation with us while we waited on line. Other girls who were also waiting on line to meet the girls were also lovely.

I met a girl named Emily who was really sweet and we were both alone so we kept each other company the whole time.
Essie and Amelia were total sweethearts. They spoke to everyone like if they've known us for years! They had a smile on their face the whole time and they were super friendly.

It was super weird yet surreal to see someone who lives around the world from you and who you've seen on your computer screen for years, in person.
I tried to hide my excitement!!
When I first went up to them Amelia said, "Oh my gosh I was dying to meet you. I kept looking at you when you were in the lobby because I just love your lipstick. What is it?"
I told them it was Diva by MAC and they both laughed because they both own it but it looked different on me. Essie said I was rocking it and that my lipstick matched my scarf too.
I couldn't stop smiling, they were so nice.
I asked them if they were liking New York and if it was their first time here, and they said they were loving it and that they've came before but it was their first time coming alone so they were really enjoying it.
Then, we just took selfies and I hugged them good-bye and I was out on my way.

I was kind of disappointed because I thought there were going to be Tarte products but they just gave out a free travel neck pillow. I'm not sure but I think I heard that at Bunny's (Grav3YardGirl) meet up, Tarte had a booth or a table with their products at a discounted price for the girls who showed up, so I went ready with my wallet full to buy some of their makeup but they didn't have anything of the sort.
It was still a very amazing experience. I'm glad I actually went. I think I might be interested in future meet and greets and even IMATS and stuff like that now.
I'd also like to thank Tarte for hosting, everything was really cute and thanks for letting myself and everyone else meet Essie and Amelia.
Bye! Thank you for reading

Hello everyone, I know it's been a while, but I have a little something for you guys, finally. I've been enjoying my summer and my time off from school which is why I haven't posted. School starts for me in 9 days so I wanted to get something up before I get bombarded with school work.

This is technically a collective haul because somethings I ordered online and some were in-store purchases.
I will list and link everything below.

I took this picture of the BeneTint because online, the samples looked bigger, as always. I should've checked the sizes before-hand. The tiny bottle is probably 2 centimeters long lol.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara Wand
I had gotten a Make Up For Ever birthday gift that came with a mini nude lipstick and a mini Smoky mascara. I fell in love with the mascara and I just had to buy the full size.

Photo Diary: The Lower East Side - LES

This Friday, I spent the day at my grandparents' apartment in the Lower East Side and something struck all the creative bones and nerves in my body. My uncle, who also lives in the apartment, is a photographer. I guess being in his presence inspired me, haha.
Anyway, I'm artsy in many areas and sometimes photography isn't my strongest area. I always feel inspired, but when I grab my camera and shoot, the result isn't what I had in mind, and I get discouraged.
This day, though, was very different. There was a huge thunder storm and the sky was a lovely color, the city lights were shining through the fog, which ignited my desire to shoot.

Thanks for reading! If you'd like to see more, all these photos, and more are posted on my Flickr page which will be linked below.

"My Life in 20 Questions" Tag

Hello!

Since I haven't quite shared a lot of information about myself here, I decided to do one of those tag questionaires. The TMI-tag is getting pretty played out on YouTube and on blogs so I searched for a new one. Hope you enjoy!

1. What's your favorite color?
My favorite color is definitely green, forever and always, BUT purple, maroon, and black are my faves as well.

2. What's your favorite number?
I always say 7 because that's the "lucky number" and my birthday is in July.

3. What is your dream career?
This is a hard question because now a days you can go to college and get a degree in something and not do anything with it or get stuck with a job you hate, but if I could have any job in the world, I'd want to own a record store or just a become a famous photographer

4. Where do you see yourself living when you're on your own?
I still picture myself living in New York, probably Brooklyn or Queens, owning a nice two story home, decorated really nicely.

5. Where is your favorite place to travel?
I've only been to Florida, Pennsylvania, and the Dominican Republic and they're all really lovely but I really want to go to the UK, Australia, and California.

6. What do you do in your free time?
I like to daydream, listen to music, scroll on YouTube, BlogLovin, Tumblr and Instagram for HOURS! I always like to zone out into the tiny world going on inside my head whenever I can.

7. Favorite clothing stores?
This is a hard question omg. I guess I'll go with Marshall's, Old Navy, and Forever21.

8. Dream car?
Well, I currently want a Toyota Corolla S but if I someday have an awesome career I wouldn't mind having some kind of really expensive car , who wouldn't lol.

9. What TV shows can't you live without?
I haven't really sat down to watch tv in a while but some all time faves are That 70s Show, What Not to Wear, and Boy Meets World.

10. 3 things (or people) you need in your life are...
Music, Books, and my family

11. I can't sleep without...?
Ughhhh so many people bug me about this but I've had a Cookie Monster teddy bear that I've been sleeping with since I was like 12 and I can't bring myself to put it away or try to sleep without it.

12. If you were given 1 million dollars all for yourself what would you do with it?
I have a lot of problems that money can solve in my family, so I'd definitely help myself and my family first. Then I'd invest some. And then, I'd give back to those who need it, either to locals, in the Dominican Republic, or to any natural disaster or country in need at the time.

13. I have a celebrity crush on...?
Not to sound cliché but definitely Leonardo DiCaprio. I've loved that man since I saw the Titanic on VHS (aka a long time ago).

14. What is your favorite treat to eat?
CHOCOLATE. No doubt about it

15. My favorite wild animal is...
Koalas

16. What is your favorite season?
Spring and Fall because they are the less extreme versions of Summer and Winter.

17. My favorite childhood shows were...
Arthur, Between the Lions, The Comfy Couch, Hey Arnold!, The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh

18. Why did you start a blog?
I'm always on YouTube and some of my favorite youtubers have blogs also so looking at their blogs made me want to start blogging. Mainly Sammi (BeautyCrush)'s blog was what really made me sign up to have a blog. I hope to have a blog as cool as hers one day lol

19. What do you hold close to your heart?
Memories

20. What is one music artist that you are in love with?
Two words: TONY. PERRY. Omg I love that man so much. My close friends think I'm obsessed with him and it's probably true.
If you don't know him btw, he plays guitar in a band called Pierce The Veil and he is just a beautiful face with a beautiful soul, ugh, he is amazing.

But that concludes the "My Life in 20 Questions" tag.
I hope you learned something new about me through this lol and I tag everyone who wants to do it!

NYX Lippies ♡

Hello! So, I ordered some of the very famous NYX Butter Glosses and a Butter Lip Balm online. I swatched them on my arm:
Butter Lip Balm - Ladyfingers

Butter Gloss - Devil's Food Cake

Butter Gloss - Maple Blondie

Butter Gloss - Raspberry Tart

Butter Gloss - Red Velvet

Butter Gloss - Apple Strudel

Lip Liner - 850 Nectar

When I swatched them on my hand, they were really pigmented. I believe all swatches contain just one swipe of product. When I applied the glosses to my lips, they were really glossy....almost too glossy for my liking, to be honest.
Now, longevity is a different story than just applying the product and wiping it right off.
I wore Red Velvet to go shopping over the weekend. I spent maybe an hour to get to the mall and when I arrived, I looked into a mirror and the product bled/feathered like crazy!! I was so shocked. I have never used a pigmented lip gloss, so I don't know if this is common in pigmented lip glosses? Or maybe it was that color only? I'm scared to try any of the others haha. I'm thinking that maybe the lighter colors won't feather as much.
The lip balm was my favorite! It applies really smoothly and it actually leaves color. I was skeptical because I've seen many "pigmented" lip balms that don't leave any color, but I was glad this one did. And it wasn't like lipstick, it was subtle yet noticeable.
Now, the lip liner, I did not order myself. I'm not sure if it was shipped to me by mistake or if it was some kind of bonus, but I'm not complaining haha. The color came out really weird in the photo above, but in person, it looks just as it does on the tip of the pencil. It's a copper color with a slight metallic sheen to it. It applies really smoothly, as well.
Have the Butter Glosses feathered for any of you as well? I'd definitely love some feedback!

Floppy Hat

All though floppy hats have been in style for forever, the recent comeback has been booming and it seems that it is here to stay. I first noticed a strength in the trend last Summer when I would go to the beach. Later, it continued into the Fall, which was when I fell in love them. I loved the combination of a floppy hat with dark outfits, and berry/deep plum lips and nails. I can't wait to see how they will be styled this spring!

Floral Print

I've always loved floral print but my obsession has been growing and growing as of lately! The weather in NYC has got me pretty bummed out lately (physically and emotionally) but I can't wait for spring and summer to rock some floral print. Most people are still on the flannel/plaid shirt trend but it's all about the floral, am I right?! Haha.

Does anyone else share my floral print obsession? Hope so!

DIY Flower Heart

Hello, I will be showing how I made a flower heart. I'm not sure if this has been done before, but I hope someone finds it useful.

Materials:
  • Fake flowers from any dollar store
  • A metal clothes hanger
  • A hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon

First, unbend the hanger, then bend it into a heart shape. It doesn't have to be perfect. (The shape won't show through the flowers once they're glued)
Next, take the flowers off the stems

(This photo does not belong to me, credit has been given)

Once you take the flowers off the stems, you can begin gluing

Then you can add a ribbon or if not, you are done

Notes:
  • The flowers didn't stick on well with just applying glue to the bottom of the flower. I added a bit of glue to the back of the hanger as well.
  • If you have gaps and the metal wire shows through, I cut off leaves from the stems and glued them around the flowers to fill the spaces.

ELF Makeup Mist & Set

Hello! On Sunday, I went to Target and saw this setting spray by E.L.F. and I've always wanted the MAC Fix+, but I rarely wear heavy make up and I rarely need my make up to last long, so I don't see it as a must have for $21. The ELF one was only $3 which is pretty cheap for its quality and it's worth it for something I probably won't use often.
Now, I have never used Fix+ or any setting spray but this stuff works! It is now 10pm and my make up has not budged. Usually my eyeliner transfers onto my crease and my wing smudges, or my eyebrows smudge off a bit, but everything has stayed in place.

Pictured below are the products I used and the shade of NYX lipstick as well as the Eyebrow Cake Power

I forgot to shoot my face products but I will list them:
Victoria Jackson Terra Glow Bronzer
Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer in the shade 1W Light (Warm)
Sheer Cover Mineral Foundation in the shade Buff
Neutrogena Liquid foundation in the shade Natural Beige

What do you think about this ELF setting spray? Has anyone else tried it? I would love some feedback.

First Month of College. . .

Long time no speak, I know. College has been keeping me busy! I am taking four classes (13 credits) and training for a job that I will be starting soon. I'm already tired by going to school only, I can only imagine how tired I'm going to be when I start working as well! I really need a job though. I'm not used to spending this much money, and I feel so bad asking my parents for $50+ every week. It's not an extreme amount of money but compared to high school, $10 would last me a whole week because I had a free metrocard and free meals at school. Now in college, I spend $25 on transportation and $20+ on food. Sometimes I try to make something at home to save money but my schedule doesn't always permit me.

On the bright side, I really love the college environment. I've always been a loner so I like that everyone keeps to themselves at school. It's really hard to make friends, but I don't mind at all. I like to sit by myself with my headphones on. I've had a bad experience with friends coming and going, and I've always done just fine on my own.

The school work isn't bad at all either. I don't get homework from many classes except for my English class. On my first college exam for my Psychology class, I scored an 85 (I thought that was pretty good). Some of the professors are really hard to understand. They speak to you in complicated terms and sometimes I have a complete brain fart and don't understand ANYTHIING.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of my academic career. I've gotten through 12 years of school already and 4 more wouldn't hurt. Today makes exactly one month since I've started college and I think I've done pretty well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a couple of make-up blog posts pending. I haven't had the chance to upload the photos to my computer. Stay tuned for make up of the day/face of the day posts and more. I will try to update as soon as I can.
Thanks for reading! xo

Estēe Lauder

Today I received these two Estēe Lauder products in the mail that I had ordered. Firstly, I LOVE THE PACKAGING!! It's beautiful haha. But otherwise, I loved the quality of the shadows.
These trio palettes for smokey eye makeup are perfect for people who don't have much experience with makeup, as it labels placement for the shadows. If you are more on the "experienced" side of the beauty world, this eye shadow trio is still a great product.
The one I purchased is the Smoked Chrome trio.
Coming from a person who isn't very much into eye shadows, I liked that the color is sheer. If you do like opaque eye shadow looks, there is good color pay off once you layer and pack the eye shadow on.

My favorite shadow from the palette is the middle one because it was the most opaque of the three colors. Also, it's very versatile as you can use it along with the other colors in the trio for the smokey eye look. I personally would probably use it as a full lid color along with winged eyeliner.

I also ordered a concealer which according to the website is their highest coverage concealer. I get really dark marks from pimples and most concealers only make the marks lighter, they don't actually cover my marks. I decided to splurge a little on a "high-end" product which costs $23.

I haven't actually used it on my face, I just swatched it on the back of my hand quickly. Although I'm not sure of the coverage yet, one thing I did love was its silky consistency. It was really smooth and buttery which I like in concealers.
